Optimistic local write, synced later. Undo window included.

Tiny by design.

Sift is a native Mac app, not a browser in a trench coat. It draws the interface with the WebView macOS already ships, and keeps your mail in a local SQLite file. No bundled Chromium, no second copy of V8, no cloud in the middle.

Under the hood
  • RustSync engine, MIME parsing, sanitizing, FTS indexing. Compiled once, then never in your way.
  • Tauri 2A 9.8 MB shell around the system WebView. Signing, updates, Keychain, notifications.
  • SQLiteEvery mailbox mirrored locally with WAL and FTS5. Search is a query, not a network round trip.
  • WKWebViewThe same engine Safari uses, sandboxed per message for HTML mail.

Idle and download figures are Sift's own measurements on Apple Silicon. Electron comparison is typical, not a single app. See the full methodology.

Checksums and release notes

Every release ships SHA-256 sums next to the DMG on GitHub. The button always points at an immutable asset URL, so the hash you check is the file you get.
